Body Fluids Modulate Propagation of Tumor Treating Fields

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) are non-ionizing alternating electric fields that have anti-cancer properties. After the initial approval for use in patients with recurrent glioblastoma 2011 and newly diagnosed glioblastomas 2015, they now being tested those advanced lung cancer, ovarian carcinoma, pancreatic cancer. Unlike ionizing radiotherapy, TTFields non-linear propagation characteristics therefore it is difficult clinicians to recognize intuitively location where these most impact. However, finite element analysis offers a means of delineating human body. Our analyses brain, pelvis, thorax revealed cerebrospinal fluid, edema, urine, ascites, pleural fluid necrotic core within tumor greatly influence their distribution body cavities. observations thus provided unified framework on role compartmentalized fluids influencing TTFields.
